Widespread power outages in the occupied Crimea have affected Sevastopol, surrounding settlements, and parts of the occupied territories in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions.
The local Telegram channel Crimean Wind (Krymsky Veter) reported on the outages.
Mikhail Razvozhayev, a russian-appointed official in Sevastopol, stated that the power supply had been temporarily restricted due to an overload on the power grids outside the city. According to him, this was done to prevent a large-scale failure in the power grid.
He also reported that public facilities have been switched to backup power sources.
What’s happening in Dzhankoi, where there has been no power for a week?
Refat Chubarov, the Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, reported that Dzhankoi and the Dzhankoi District have been without power for seven days now.
According to him, rural residents are facing not only a lack of electricity but also fuel shortages and water supply problems. Due to the fuel shortage, the price of imported drinking water has risen significantly, making it virtually unaffordable for many.
Chubarov added that a similar situation is being observed in other steppe regions of the occupied Crimea.
Amid widespread power outages, reports began circulating on social media about an alleged explosion at the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant.
Mykhailo Razvozhayev denied these reports and called them false. He did not link the power outages to the power plant’s operations but attributed them to grid overloads.
As a reminder, on July 8, the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces struck the “Kuban–Crimea” power bridge, through which electricity is supplied to the occupied Crimea from the territory of the aggressor state, russia.
Authorities in Siberia are urging businesses, where possible, to switch to remote work and to limit energy consumption. In addition, citizens have been advised to use their personal vehicles less frequently.
