President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree establishing a special Long-Range Strike Command within the Armed Forces to target russia, the aggressor nation, as well as a decree establishing the Joint Rapid Response Forces. The head of state announced this in an evening video address on Friday, July 10.
Zelenskyy noted that the Long-Range—in effect, global—Strike Command is intended to reduce russia’s military capabilities, for which it must concentrate all available resources. According to him, the most experienced person will be appointed commander of these forces.
“Today I signed a decree on the creation of the Joint Rapid Response Forces. This is to be a new component of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, combining the combat capabilities of assault troops, the necessary unmanned systems, the necessary artillery, and other means for the most rapid response on the front lines, and it must be a modern, technologically advanced assault force,” the President wrote.
The commander of the Joint Rapid Response Forces is to be Hero of Ukraine, Brigadier General Dmytro Voloshyn, the commander of the 8th Air Assault Corps. In addition, there will be changes in the command structure of the assault troops, Zelenskyy emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 10, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he had reached an agreement on licenses for the production of Patriot systems in Ukraine during a meeting with Donald Trump in Ankara.
