Rescuers have extinguished a fire in the Chornobyl exclusion zone, which had been raging for two weeks.
The State Emergency Service announced this, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
It is noted that the Kyiv Region emergency workers, together with other services, have been taming the fire for two weeks in a row.
Forest litter and fallen trees were burning.
Thanks to the coordinated and professional actions of the rescuers, it was possible to prevent the fire from spreading to large areas.
"As of today, the fire has been extinguished!" the message says.
The State Emergency Service also emphasized that the radiation background indicators during the entire period when the fire raged did not exceed permissible norms.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 4, the State Emergency Service workers extinguished a fire at one of the locations in the Chornobyl zone on an area of 130 hectares, and work continued in three other areas.
