The Cabinet of Ministers has created a coordination council on internally displaced persons and the return of citizens from abroad.
This was announced by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The ministry notes that as a result of russia's armed aggression, at least 5.8 million Ukrainian citizens have left abroad, and 4.6 million Ukrainians are registered as internally displaced persons within the country, which has led to a significant reduction in human capital and created a colossal burden on the housing and social sectors.
"In order to effectively respond to challenges and synchronize the actions of the authorities, international partners and charitable organizations, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution on the establishment of a Coordination Council on Internally Displaced Persons, promoting the preservation of ties with Ukrainian citizens abroad and their voluntary return to Ukraine," the report says.
Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Uliutin noted that the creation of the Coordination Council should overcome fragmentation in work with displaced people and will ensure consistency in considering the issues of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes during the russian aggression, starting in 2014.
It is noted that one of the key tools of the Coordination Council's work will be the creation of working groups in separate areas of activity, which will ensure prompt interdepartmental processing of issues, preparation of agreed proposals and materials for consideration at Council meetings.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ministry of Social Policy has developed a digital platform "Home" to support the return and reintegration of Ukrainians.
The Cabinet of Ministers has developed a long-term strategy for the economic development of Ukraine for 15 years "Economy of the Future", which provides for an increase in GDP growth rates to 6% per year and the return of 3.1 million Ukrainians.
