After the clashes near the territorial recruitment and social support center in Lviv, which occurred on Wednesday, July 8, military ombudsman Olha Reshetylova stated that the responsibility for the conflicts between the military and civilians lies not only with the participants in the incidents, but also with the government, military-political leadership and local self-government bodies.

Reshetylova wrote about this on social networks, commenting on the events that occurred on the evening of July 8 in the Sykhiv district of Lviv, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

Commenting on the situation, Reshetylova stated that she would not give interviews to journalists who, in her opinion, cover only violations of the rights of those liable for military service and do not pay sufficient attention to the problems of servicemen.

At the same time, she emphasized that the main reason for such conflicts lies in the lack of a balanced state policy.

"The responsibility for this lies with the government, the military-political leadership of the state and local self-government bodies," the military ombudsman wrote.

According to Reshetylova, the authorities have still not been able to find a balance between the needs of the army and the economy. This, in her opinion, regularly leads to conflicts around the work of the territorial recruitment centers.

She stated that the mobilization reform should begin with a complete revision of the principles of reservation, and this requires political will, effective work of the state apparatus and support from society.

The military ombudsman supported the servicemen, emphasizing that most Ukrainians are grateful to them for their service, even if this is not always noticeable during high-profile incidents.

Earlier, the Lviv Regional territorial recruitment and social support center stated that all those involved in the attack on the military will be held responsible in accordance with the law.

The head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, reported that after the incident, law enforcement officers held a meeting. According to him, all those involved in the offenses must be identified and brought to justice.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the evening of July 8, a crowd damaged and overturned a recruitment center's car on Chervonoyi Kalyny Avenue in Lviv. According to the police and the Lviv Regional recruitment center, the conflict began after representatives of the territorial recruitment center found a man who was wanted for evading military service.
