The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has concluded its review of the defense’s appeal against the HACC’s June 18, 2025, ruling, in which the former chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council was found guilty of soliciting and receiving an unlawful benefit in the amount of UAH 612,000, as well as of storing ammunition without the permission required by law (Part 4 of Article 368, Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
It was reported to the Ukrainian News agency by the Administrative Office of the High Anti-Corruption Court, according to the Ukrainian News agency.
The trial court sentenced Holovko to 9 years of imprisonment, with a 3-year ban on holding certain positions and the confiscation of all his property.
Following the hearing, the panel of judges partially granted the defense attorney’s appeal and amended the High Anti-Corruption Court’s verdict by removing from the indictment the reference to the illegal possession of certain military supplies (Article 263, Part 1, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The remainder of the verdict was left unchanged.
Holovko was taken into custody in the courtroom. The decision took legal effect upon its announcement and may be appealed to the Criminal Cassation Court within the Supreme Court.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the High Anti-Corruption Court found Mykhailo Holovko, a member of the Svoboda party and former head of the Ternopil Regional Council, guilty of accepting a bribe and sentenced him to 9 years in prison. He fainted upon hearing the court’s verdict.
