NBU fines banks owned by Tihipko and Akhmetov, as well as UkrSibbank in June

In June, the National Bank fined the banks owned by Serhii Tihipko and Rinat Akhmetov, as well as UkrSibbank.

This is stated in a press release from the NBU, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The fines were imposed for violations of financial monitoring and foreign exchange laws.

Specifically, PUMB (First Ukrainian International Bank, FUIB) received a fine of UAH 10 million and a written warning; TAScombank received a fine of UAH 200,000; Universal Bank received a written warning; and UkrSibbank received a fine of UAH 400,000.

In addition, “I Lombard” LLC received fines of UAH 4.1 million and UAH 100,000, as well as two written warnings.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, PUMB was founded in 1991.

SCM Finance owns 92.24% of PUMB.

SCM Finance is a subsidiary of System Capital Management and specializes in the management of financial institutions.

Universal Bank is part of the TAS group owned by businessman Serhii Tihipko.

The group’s financial sector also includes TAScombank, two insurance companies, and a number of other organizations.

UkrSibbank was founded in 1990 in Kharkiv.

Since 2006, UkrSibbank’s main partner has been the international financial group BNP Paribas (France).
