Russia launches ballistic missile strike on Kyiv: woman killed, and fires break out in warehouses and garages

A missile strike on Kyiv on the night of July 8 resulted in one fatality, two injuries, and several fires in various parts of the capital. Russian forces attacked the city with ballistic missiles.

It was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

What were the consequences of the attack in the Sviatoshynskyi District?

In the Sviatoshynskyi Dstrict, the russian attack caused a fire in an administrative building and storage facilities.

Initially, the State Emergency Service reported two casualties, one of whom was hospitalized.

Later, at 8:31 a.m., Tymur Tkachenko, the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported that while extinguishing the fire, rescuers discovered the body of a woman who had been killed.

At another location in the district, a garage cooperative caught fire. Rescuers extinguished the blaze.

In addition, an administrative building and trams were damaged by a russian strike.

The Kyiv City Military Administration announced changes to public transportation schedules:

  • Tram route No. 1 has been temporarily replaced by bus No. 1T;
  • Tram route No. 3 has been temporarily replaced by bus No. 3T;
  • trams are running at longer intervals.

Consequences of the attack in the Desnianskyi District

Another fire broke out in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi district following the russian attack. A warehouse caught fire there.

As of this morning, there were no reports of casualties in this district.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on the night of Monday, July 6, the aggressor country, the russian federation, launched a massive attack on Kyiv with missiles and drones, causing widespread destruction in the city.

It was also reported that on the night of July 6, russian forces launched 68 missiles and 351 drones of various types at Ukraine. Air defense forces managed to intercept 363 aerial targets—37 missiles and 326 drones. However, none of the 23 “Iskander-M”/S-400 ballistic missiles or the six “Zircon”/“Onyx” hypersonic anti-ship missiles were shot down.
