An Armenian citizen who had been wanted by Interpol for over 20 years was detained in Kyiv. It was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office on Monday, July 6.
The Armenian citizen had been on an international wanted list since 2005 for serious crimes, including murder, intentional infliction of serious bodily harm, and document forgery. The 53-year-old man was detained in Kyiv. He was tracked down as part of an investigation into the activities of a group involved in the illegal possession of firearms, explosives, and explosive devices.
"In Ukraine, he used two Ukrainian passports under different last names. One of the documents stated that the man was born in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, in the city of Simferopol. The second passport belonged to a resident of Zakarpattia who died back in 2012," the prosecutor’s office noted.
The detainee will be extradited to Armenia.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 30, prosecutors from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, together with investigators from the Main Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, exposed and detained a former “minister” from the temporarily occupied Crimea in Kyiv.
