Unmanned Systems Forces strike eight tankers belonging to russia's "shadow fleet" in Sea of Azov

Main points
  • The Unmanned Systems Forces Commander Robert Brovdi announced a large-scale strike against russian fuel logistics in the Sea of Azov.
  • Eight fuel tankers, one dry cargo ship, and one ferry—all subject to international sanctions—were struck.
  • During the operation, the Unmanned Systems Forces' units successfully engaged 58 legitimate military targets in the temporarily occupied territories.

During the night of July 7, soldiers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces carried out a large-scale strike against russian fuel logistics in the Sea of Azov. Robert Brovdi (Madyar), the commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, has reported this.

According to him, the air-sea battle made it possible to strike a large group of enemy vessels that were supplying fuel to the occupiers.

“The battle for fuel for the Crimea in the Sea of Azov continues. The air-sea battle on the night of July 7 reached industrial-scale results: a convoy of 8 fuel tankers, 1 dry cargo ship, and 1 ferry. The fuel tankers are badly damaged and on fire; sanctions from the sky by the Freedom-Loving Ukrainian Bird of the USF are in effect,” the commander stated.

He also emphasized that all these tankers are subject to international sanctions.

Among the attacked vessels of the occupiers’ “shadow fleet,” the following tankers have been identified: “Venera-3,” “Sanar-1,” “Sanar-17,” "Klimena," "Teti," "Aleksey Savrasov," and "Penelopa"; the name of one additional vessel is currently being determined. This attack was part of a broader nighttime operation by Ukrainian drones behind enemy lines. Robert Brovdi specified that overnight, within the enemy’s operational depth in the temporarily occupied territories, the Unmanned Systems Forces' units successfully struck 58 legitimate military targets. In addition to maritime transport, the invaders’ energy infrastructure on the peninsula also sustained serious damage.

“The Crimean power grid was also flickering tonight—power hubs were burning along with logistics facilities,” Brovdi said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 5, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, stated that over the past 48 hours, the Ukrainian military had struck 16 power substations in the occupied territories of the Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson Regions, as well as in the Crimea.
