The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution stipulating that the Ukrainian National Pantheon will be located on the grounds of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve. This is stated in a post by the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance (UINR) on Facebook on Saturday, July 4.

The UINP, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, is tasked with verifying the identities of the most prominent figures of the Ukrainian nation and their family members who should be reburied on the grounds of the Pantheon.

“The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, which oversees the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve, is responsible for determining the location of the Pantheon, taking into account restrictions on land use, requirements for the protection of cultural heritage and Ukraine’s international obligations, as well as for organizing and conducting an architectural competition for the best architectural design of the Pantheon with the participation of representatives of state agencies, local government bodies, the public, international organizations, religious associations, and leading architects, historians, and art historians,” the statement reads.

The creation, construction, maintenance, and operation of the Pantheon will be funded from the state budget and other sources not prohibited by law.
