Due to thunderstorms and squalls, as of the morning of June 30, consumers in about 600 settlements in eight regions of Ukraine were left without power.

NPC Ukrenergo has announced this on its Telegram channel, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"Due to difficult weather conditions of the previous day (thunderstorms, squalls), about 600 settlements in eight regions - Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Volyn, Lviv, Cherkasy, Ternopil and Khmelnytskyi - were completely or partially cut off power in the morning. In each of the regions, regional energy brigades are already restoring damaged power lines," the report says.

In addition, consumers in the Sumy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia Regions are without power as of the morning of June 30 due to russian shelling. Power engineers have begun restoration work wherever the security situation allows.

At the same time, electricity consumption as of 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday is 1.2% higher than the previous day.

The reason for the trend towards increasing energy consumption is called hot weather throughout Ukraine, which causes the massive use of air conditioners.

Ukrenergo reminds that due to the heat-related increase in energy consumption on June 30, in all regions of Ukraine from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., consumption restriction measures will be applied: power restriction schedules for industry and hourly outages for household consumers (from 0.5 to 1 queue).

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrenergo previously reported that temporary power supply restrictions will be in effect in all regions of Ukraine on Tuesday, June 30, due to a sharp increase in electricity consumption due to hot weather.

As a reminder, a cold front is expected to approach Ukraine on July 2, which will bring relief from the heat.
