The occupying authorities in the Kherson Region continue to report on the successful completion of the planting season and upcoming record harvests. However, behind the impressive figures lies a problem that could derail all these plans in the coming months—an acute fuel shortage in the temporarily occupied territories. This is stated in a report by the National Resistance Center.
According to the National Resistance Center, following a series of successful strikes by Ukrainian drones on russian oil refineries and fuel infrastructure, the occupiers have faced serious difficulties in fuel supply. The situation is exacerbated by speculators and corruption schemes, which have led to diesel fuel being sold at significantly inflated prices in the temporarily occupied territories.
The Center emphasizes that diesel is essential for the operation of agricultural machinery.
“While farmers were still able to find the necessary resources for the planting season, significantly larger volumes of fuel will be needed in the fall for the harvest. At the same time, most farms did not factor such a sharp rise in prices and logistical problems into their budgets.
As a result, part of the harvest may simply be left in the fields due to the inability to carry out the harvest campaign on time. Other producers will be forced to factor additional fuel costs into the price of their products, which will inevitably lead to another spike in food prices,” the Center reports.
The Center emphasizes that russia is, in fact, risking the loss of one of the main reasons it has exploited the occupied Ukrainian territories for years—the ability to use them to supply its own market with food.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to data from the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, russian invaders are deliberately creating conditions for the spread of the anthrax pathogen in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kherson Region.
