A MiG-29 fighter jet of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine crashed last night while performing a combat mission in the Poltava Region, the pilot managed to eject.
This was announced by the press service of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"We inform you that on the night of June 27, 2026, contact was lost with the MiG-29 fighter jet of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which was performing a combat mission in the Poltava Region. We confirm the loss of the aircraft, but the Ukrainian pilot successfully ejected..." the message says.
It is noted that the pilot then contacted the search and rescue team and was promptly taken to a medical facility for examination and necessary assistance.
The causes and circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 22 last year, while performing a flight mission on a Mirage-2000 fighter jet, an aircraft equipment failure occurred; the pilot ejected.
