Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said that he is ready, if necessary, to mediate in resolving the differences between Ukraine and Poland.

He said this in an interview with the LNK News television station, noting that the parties have not yet made such a request to him.

According to Nausėda, currently Ukraine and Poland prefer to discuss the disputed issues directly, without the participation of third parties. However, if both capitals conclude that mediation is necessary, Lithuania is ready to join the process. The President stressed that he considers himself a suitable candidate for such a role due to "good relations with both sides."

One of the key sources of tension between Kyiv and Warsaw remains the different assessments of the role of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN). In Ukraine, they are considered fighters for independence, while in Poland they are accused of crimes against the Polish population.

Nausėda noted that Ukraine is interested in maintaining constructive relations with Poland, particularly against the backdrop of European integration, where the support of all EU countries is an important factor.

The Lithuanian President said that in the coming days he would have the opportunity to informally discuss the situation with the Polish side. He plans to visit northern Poland together with other leaders and expects to hear the position of President Karol Nawrocki.

"I will be able to understand how this conflict arose and what can be done to normalize the situation," he said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Office of the President of Poland reported that it had received the Order of the White Eagle, returned by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The award will be transferred for permanent storage and will no longer be presented to other persons.
