The French Navy intercepted the Deliver tanker, part of the shadow fleet of russia, the aggressor nation. French President Emmanuel Macron posted a video of the incident on his X account on Thursday, June 25.
Macron noted that the Deliver was intercepted on Tuesday, June 23, as it was sailing off the coast of Sicily in violation of maritime law. According to him, such actions demonstrate Europe’s resolve, as the United Kingdom carried out a similar operation just a few days ago.

"We will not allow the shadow fleet to evade sanctions and fund Russia's war effort. Europe is determined. It will pursue all necessary efforts to increase the cost of the war for Russia and enable the emergence of a robust and lasting peace in Ukraine,” Macron emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 14, the British Armed Forces detained the SMYRTOS, a vessel belonging to russia’s “shadow fleet,” in the English Channel.
Earlier, it was reported that tankers from the so-called “shadow fleet” of the aggressor country, russia, had begun to avoid sailing near the British coast more frequently, preferring to circumnavigate via Ireland.
In April, the Swedish Coast Guard detained the tanker Flora 1, which is part of the so-called “shadow fleet.” The reason for the vessel’s detention was an oil spill previously recorded in the Baltic Sea. In May, the country detained its fifth vessel from the “shadow fleet.”
