Ukraine must form new brigades instead of expanding existing ones, as russia, the aggressor nation, seeks to extend the active front line by 160 kilometers at the expense of the north of Ukraine. Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi has reported this in a comment to LIGA.net.
Syrskyi noted that the russian occupiers have not succeeded on the main fronts, so they have decided to expand the combat zone in northern Ukraine. According to him, new brigades are needed to repel a possible offensive, as the enemy has superior numbers in terms of weapons and troops.
“The enemy, by the way, has adjusted its plans and intends to create new divisions and five brigades this year. We are forced to respond to such actions. In war, you either seize the initiative or lose it. There is no third option,” Syrskyi emphasized.
The front line has significantly increased in depth—that is, it is expanding both in width and depth—so Ukraine needs new military units to hold its territory, the Commander-in-Chief stressed.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 16, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi ordered the formation of additional unmanned aerial vehicle units to strengthen the defense of the state border in the northern sector.
As a reminder, on May 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that during a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, he discussed countering possible russian offensive operations in the Chernihiv-Kyiv direction.
