In Chernivtsi, criminals stole gas worth UAH 87.5 million

In Chernivtsi, criminals illegally laid a gas pipeline to an apartment building, illegally connected to the gas distribution system and actually stole gas for the operation of a local boiler house.

Serhii Koretskyi, the Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, has announced this on his Facebook page, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

It is noted that the losses amount to at least UAH 87.5 million.

According to estimates by the Naftogaz Group, annual losses from gas theft by household consumers are measured in billions of hryvnias.

This is a consequence of various schemes and frauds that the Group is fighting and systematically putting in order.

The report states that the scheme was exposed by security specialists from Hazmerezi and Naftogaz and all materials were transferred to law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Naftogaz will demand compensation for the damage caused.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, at the end of January, with the assistance of the Naftogaz Group security teams, the National Police of Ukraine, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, stopped the activities of the Ternova organized crime group.

The attackers illegally crashed into the Ukrnafta oil pipeline and systematically stole oil in the Romenskyi district of the Sumy Region.
