On the night of June 25, the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula came under a large-scale attack by strike drones and cruise missiles. According to Crimean monitoring channels, the attack began around 1:00 a.m. and covered virtually all key areas of Crimea. It was reported by the Telegram channel Crimean Wind.

The epicenter of the nighttime attack was Simferopol and its suburbs, where residents counted at least a dozen powerful explosions. The loudest explosion occurred around 3:10 a.m. in the Pnevmatyka neighborhood, where a massive blast with a bright flash rocked the area, and the occupiers did not sound the air raid siren until later near the train station. A series of explosions was also heard near the Kacha and Saky military airfields. The sounds of explosions, low-flying drones, and chaotic gunfire from the occupiers’ mobile fire teams were also reported in Sevastopol, Bakhchysarai, Armiansk, Yevpatoria, as well as in the Nyzhnohirskyi, Rozdolne, Krasnoperekopsk, Pervomaisk, Bilohirsk, and Lenine Districts in the direction of Kerch.

According to eyewitness reports, power generation facilities were the main targets of the attack. Residents of the Dobrovska Valley reported strikes in the area of the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant, while residents of Sevastopol reported an attack on the Balaklava Thermal Power Plant. As a result of the strikes and grid overload, widespread power outages began across the peninsula. In Simferopol and the surrounding villages, the electricity flickered for a long time, and the city center was completely without power for a while. In Yalta, a complete blackout occurred around 2:50 a.m., leaving the city without power for about ten minutes, while serious power outages and voltage spikes were recorded in Zaozerne, the villages of the Belbek Valley, and the Sovietskyi District.

The russian Ministry of Emergency Situations declared a “drone threat” on the peninsula with a significant delay, by which time the first explosions had already gone off in most areas. There are currently no official comments from the kremlin-controlled local authorities regarding the extent of damage to strategic facilities.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on June 24 it became known that Sevastopol was completely without power due to a nighttime attack on energy facilities.
