Throughout the past week, Ukrainian producers continued to reduce prices for existing batches of tomatoes.
This is stated in the announced of the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
According to the project's daily monitoring data, the beginning of mass sales of vegetables from summer greenhouses caused another decrease in prices for these products almost throughout the country.
In the conditions that have developed, attempts by local greenhouse farms to maintain the previous price level were accompanied by a decrease in sales rates, as a result of which they were forced to resort to negative price adjustments.
Thus, closer to the last weekend, large greenhouse plants shipped tomatoes at UAH 70-110 per kilogram, which is on average 13% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.
The project experts call such a price drop a traditional seasonal phenomenon, since every year in the second half of June, tomatoes from summer greenhouses begin to enter the market en masse.
It is noted that in the same period last year, greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine were sold on average 23% cheaper than in the current season, since then prices for local vegetables fell more significantly than now.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, a noticeable decline in prices for greenhouse tomatoes began in Ukraine at the end of April.
