Honduras intends to purchase Ukrainian drones to strengthen border control and combat drug trafficking. This was stated by the country's President Nasry Asfura, EuroNews reports.

According to the head of state, Ukrainian technologies can help law enforcement officers more effectively monitor the situation in hard-to-reach areas and detect the activities of criminal groups.

"We are talking about drones to protect our borders, to effectively protect our borders, to combat organized crime with the help of high-tech equipment," Asfura said during the General Assembly of the Organization of American States in Panama City.

The statement came after his recent visit to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During the talks, the parties discussed cooperation in the field of modern technologies, in particular unmanned systems.

The President of Honduras emphasized that Ukrainian experience in the development and use of drones can be useful for ensuring the national security of his country.

"Ukraine can help us a lot in ensuring the security of our borders and combating illegal drug trafficking," he noted.

Honduras has been one of the key transit routes for transporting cocaine from South America to the United States for many years. Recently, local authorities have also recorded cases of coca cultivation and the operation of clandestine drug production laboratories in the country.

Against the background of the growing influence of organized crime, the government is looking for new technological solutions to control remote territories and combat drug cartels. One of such tools may be Ukrainian drones, which have gained world fame due to their effective use during the war.

The purchase of drones may become one of the first examples of the export of Ukrainian unmanned technologies to Central American countries.

Recall that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have hit 800,000+ russian targets with drones since the beginning of the year.
