Journalist Grigory Nekhoroshev, the former editor-in-chief of the newspaper 'Moscow Correspondent', has died in Riga. He was 69 years old.

The journalist's death was reported by the Delfi publication with reference to russian journalist Bozhena Rynska, who lives in Latvia.

Nekhoroshev died on June 19 after poisoning with mushrooms that he had gathered in his yard.

The journalist had lived in the Latvian capital as a political refugee for the past 11 years. In 2008, while he was editor-in-chief of the Moscow Correspondent, he published an article about vladimir putin's affair with gymnast Alina Kabaeva.

After the publication, the newspaper was closed, and Nekhoroshev himself was summoned for questioning by the FSB. He later emigrated from russia and gained a reputation as "putin's personal enemy."

The russian leader denied information about his relationship with Kabaeva. At the time, he stated that he had a negative attitude towards people who interfere in someone else's personal life with their "erotic fantasies."

As we will recall, on June 15, an unknown person shot dead russian artist Robert Kuzovkov, known for his political cartoons against the current russian government, in the Polish city of Biała Podlaska.
