A steady stream of interceptor missiles for the Patriot air defense systems is currently being delivered to Ukraine to significantly strengthen the country’s air defense. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte made this statement on June 18 ahead of a meeting of foreign ministers from Alliance member countries, according to Ukrinform.

According to the Secretary General, discussions with all allies regarding the uninterrupted supply of interceptor missiles are ongoing. He specifically expressed gratitude to the United States for ensuring a steady flow of this vital defense equipment and other assistance.

Rutte also emphasized that the meeting participants coordinated joint steps to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with additional weapons and modern air defense systems, which are necessary to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.

Commenting on the financial aspect of the issue—specifically, the allocation of European Union funds for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine—the NATO chief assured that active work is underway to secure funding, and that as of today, “we are in good shape.”

In addition, the NATO Secretary General mentioned political contacts, thanking Donald Trump for resuming dialogue with him to end the war, calling him the only American leader capable of achieving this goal.

Regarding reports of attempts by some European leaders to establish direct contacts with the kremlin, Rutte noted that this is a purely internal discussion within the EU, in which the North Atlantic Alliance is in no way involved, so he refrains from commenting on it.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy explained exactly how Ukrainian air defense systems shot down ballistic missiles over Kyiv.
