Throughout June 16 and into the night of June 17, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of successful strikes against key targets of the russian invaders, Ukrainian military forces struck a tanker belonging to russia’s “shadow fleet,” key logistical infrastructure in the temporarily occupied territories, as well as numerous enemy command posts. It was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Black Sea, a tanker from the russian “shadow fleet,” the FINA A (IMO 9283306), was struck by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. This vessel, 244.6 meters long and with a gross tonnage of over 62,000 metric tons, is subject to sanctions imposed by the European Union, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Ukraine. The occupiers used it to transport oil and petroleum products on behalf of the russian federation, circumventing international restrictions. The strike on the target has been confirmed, and the extent of damage to the massive vessel is currently being assessed.
In addition to maritime targets, the Ukrainian military has significantly disrupted the enemy’s logistics in the south. In particular, two road bridges in the Kherson Region were struck—one across the North Crimean Canal near the village of Stavky, and the other near Voinka.
The occupation forces’ command and control system also suffered significant losses. Near Velyka Novosilka in the Donetsk Region, the Defense Forces struck an enemy command-and-observation post and a command center. At the same time, powerful strikes were delivered against the invaders’ UAV command centers. Similar targets were destroyed in the areas of Kamianske and Novoprokopivka of the Zaporizhzhia Region, Ivanopillia and Komar in the Donetsk Region, Oleshky in the Kherson Region, Maliivka in the Dnipropetrovsk Region, as well as on the russian territory—in the settlements of Korovyakovka and Kucherov in the Kursk Oblast.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, an oil depot caught fire following a drone attack in the Kuban Oblast: roads were blocked in russia.
