On the night of June 16–17, russian troops attacked the city of Trostianets in the Sumy Region. The attack was massive, and significant damage was reported.

As a result of the shelling in Trostianets, gas stations were destroyed, and private homes were damaged. No reports of casualties have been received.
Mayor Yurii Bova reported the destruction of civilian infrastructure within the city and described the night as difficult.
It is also noted that on June 16, 55 shelling incidents were recorded across 24 settlements in the Sumy Region. The air raid alert in the region lasted 17 hours and 30 minutes. The heaviest shelling occurred in the Sumy and Shostka Districts, where casualties were also reported.
In addition, in the Sumy Region, a russian drone attacked the grounds of an equestrian sports school. The strike on the stables killed horses; according to preliminary data, no staff members were injured.
