The leaders of the G7 countries announced their intention to step up military support for Ukraine and impose additional sanctions against russia. This decision is outlined in the G7 joint communiqué.

This is stated in an official statement by the bloc’s leaders.

The document notes that the G7 nations remain committed to supporting Ukraine in defending its independence and territorial integrity.

“We, the Leaders of the G7, stand united in our unwavering support for Ukraine in defending its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. We reaffirm our solidarity with the Ukrainian population suffering from attacks on their critical infrastructure and cultural heritage. We commend Ukraine for its resilience and progress on the battlefield in recent months and emphasize there is now a new momentum," the statement reads.

Among the announced measures is an increase in the supply of air defense systems, anti-aircraft systems, and interceptor missiles to Ukraine.

In addition, the G7 countries intend to increase the transfer of long-range capabilities to Ukraine.

Separately, the bloc’s leaders stated their readiness to consider granting special licenses that would allow foreign weapons to be manufactured directly at Ukrainian facilities.

The G7 nations also pledged to help Ukraine prepare for the coming winter by providing additional support to strengthen its energy infrastructure.

At the same time, the G7 reaffirmed its intention to intensify economic pressure on russia.

“We commit to increase the pressure on the Russian war economy. In this context, we will strengthen our sanctions, including those on the oil and gas sectors, the leaders emphasized.

The statement also notes that additional sanctions became possible against the backdrop of changes in the global energy market.

“We consider this the right moment to proceed with additional measures, as President Trump has delivered a deal that we support in reopening the Strait of Hormuz, the communiqué states.

According to the G7 leaders, the resumption of oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz makes it possible to tighten restrictions on the russian energy sector without posing significant risks to global energy security.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had suggested that russian dictator vladimir putin meet at the G7 summit in France to hold talks to end the war, but putin was not ready for dialogue.
