President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the successful meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7 summit, among the topics of discussion was the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense.
Zelenskyy wrote about this on the X social network, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"A successful meeting with Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz in Evian," the report says.
The leaders discussed the issues of defense support for Ukraine, in particular, the further strengthening of air defense, as well as the situation on the front line and the results of Ukraine's "long-range sanctions."
"We also separately discussed ways to implement the agreements reached at today's G7-Ukraine meeting. It is important that Ukraine's effectiveness on the battlefield and its long-range capabilities are complemented by effective global pressure on russia," the President added.
Finally, Zelenskyy thanked Ukraine for its support in defense, as well as on its path to the European Union.

As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier on June 16, Zelenskyy said he had met with Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit, which is currently underway in France. It was a continuation of a closed meeting that also included French President Emmanuel Macron.
