The aggressor country of russia has developed an electronic warfare (EW) system capable of jamming the signal of the Starlink satellite communication system over an area of 20 square kilometers. Two of them have already been destroyed in recent days.

This was reported by the advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, on Tuesday, June 16.

According to him, the russians called this system "Volna Kupol Garant". It is produced at the "russian Kupol" enterprise in occupied Simferopol.

The principle of operation of this system is extremely simple. Satellite antennas are placed on the ground, directed into the sky. They "catch" a passing Starlink satellite, exposing it to powerful interference radiation. Because of this, the device is unable to receive a signal from Starlink terminals on the surface.

"Technically, the Starlink satellite receives signals from terminals in the 14–14.5 GHz range. This range is divided into 8 channels, each 62.5 MHz wide. The Russians conventionally took 8 satellite "dishes", directed them at the satellite, and each dish transmits interference on its own channel. That's all," Beskrestnov explained.

The electronic warfare station is mounted on trailers, each of which has two antennas. The entire complex has six trailers. The system can be removed from the trailers and placed on one platform or directly on the ground. Each antenna visually resembles an egg, inside which is a satellite antenna with a rotation mechanism.

Beskrestnov said that in recent days, servicemen of the 422nd separate regiment of unmanned systems of the Luftwaffe have hit two "Wave Dome Garant" systems in the south of the occupied territories.

The 422nd Regiment previously published a video of the destruction of one of the Starlink jamming stations on its Telegram channel.

Beskrestnov added that the russians have been trying to jam Starlink since the first days of the full-scale invasion. Work in this direction is ongoing. The first case of Starlink suppression was recorded in 2024. Then the EW station of the invaders was quickly discovered and destroyed. Until this year, there were no mass attempts to repeat the use of this system.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the specialized portal RussianSpaceWeb recently reported that in early June, a russian satellite of the rassvet project, an analogue of the American Starlink, burned up in the Earth's atmosphere. It was launched into orbit at the end of March this year.
