French President Emmanuel Macron, during a brief meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy before the G7 summit, offered to help organize a meeting between the Ukrainian leader and Donald Trump. The Kyiv Independent writes about this with reference to sources.
The possible meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump was the first issue raised by Macron when welcoming the President of Ukraine to the Royal Hotel, where the summit is taking place. The French leader, as the host of the summit, invited the Ukrainian head of state to participate in the meetings of the leaders of the Group of Seven, hoping that this would help strengthen support for Kyiv.
"So, first of all, do you have a bilateral meeting planned... with President Trump?" Macron asked Zelenskyy, after which he immediately offered to "organize it."
As CNN journalists note, Trump's official schedule currently does not include separate bilateral talks with the President of Ukraine. At the same time, the media emphasizes that during such international summits, leaders of states often hold improvised and unplanned meetings on the sidelines of the event.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Zelenskyy suggested that Trump organize a meeting with putin in the United States.
Also, on June 15, the President of the United States announced that after resolving the situation with Iran, he was going to focus on resolving the situation in Ukraine.
