On the night of June 16, russian troops launched a massive strike on the territory of Ukraine, using ballistic missiles and 132 drones of various types. Air defense forces managed to neutralize 114 enemy UAVs. This was reported by the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The attack began the previous evening, starting at 06:00 pm on June 15. The enemy launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Rostov Oblast. In addition, dozens of Shahed-type strike drones, including their jet-powered modifications, as well as Gerbera and Italmas drones and Parody-type simulator drones, were launched from several directions in the russian federation (Shatalovo, Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk).
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, mobile fire groups, electronic warfare units and unmanned systems of the Defense Forces. The bulk of the enemy drones were eliminated or suppressed by electronic warfare in the northern, southern and eastern regions of Ukraine.
At the same time, hits of missiles and 16 strike drones were recorded at 9 locations. Falling debris from downed air targets was also documented at 8 locations.
The military notes that combat operations are ongoing, as there are still isolated enemy UAVs in the country's airspace, and urges citizens not to ignore air alert signals.
As Ukrainian News Agency reported, earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that russia plans to increase the share of jet attack drones in its attacks to 50%.
