Last week, prices for cherries from local farms began to decline in Ukraine.

This is stated in a report by the EastFruit project, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The report states that the reason for the drop in prices for these stone fruits is the large supply of imported cherries along with the massive arrival of berries from local farms.

In conditions of such fierce competition, sellers were forced to significantly reduce prices for the available volumes of perishable products.

Thus, local cherries are currently on sale at a price of UAH 70-150 per kilogram, which is on average 23% cheaper than at the end of the previous working week.

Ukrainian gardeners are forced to reduce prices for several reasons.

Contrary to the expectations of producers, the supply of sweet cherries on the market is currently quite large, which was the main reason for the price decrease, and buyers are often dissatisfied with the quality of local products, which also puts pressure on prices in this segment.

It is noted that today sweet cherries on the Ukrainian market are already sold on average 43% cheaper than in the same period last year.

At the same time, gardeners do not rule out the further preservation of negative price trends in this segment, given the limited terms of sale of this berry.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, garden strawberries continue to fall in price in Ukraine.
