The High Anti-Corruption Court reduced the bail amount for former Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko from UAH 200 million to UAH 150 million. Halushchenko’s attorney, Susanna Tirzikyan, announced the court’s decision.
"This is an important interim result. At the same time, we view this decision only as the first step toward justice. There is still a lot of work ahead, and we will continue to use all legal mechanisms to protect our client’s rights," she stated.
According to the defense, they intend to continue defending their client’s interests in court.
"We are continuing the fight. Step by step, we will demonstrate the weakness of the charges brought and prove Herman Halushchenko’s innocence," Tirzikyan emphasized.
Earlier, it was reported that the international organization IAC ISHR had taken the case under observation. Based on their monitoring of the trial, its experts noted violations of the suspect’s rights. Among other things, they drew attention to what they considered an insufficient evidentiary basis in the case.
As a reminder, NABU detectives detained Herman Halushchenko as part of the so-called “Midas” case. Following this, the court remanded the former minister in custody for 60 days with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of UAH 200 million. The bail amount has now been reduced to UAH 150 million.
