The Ukrainian government is preparing new measures to strengthen financial and social support for communities near the front lines, where more than 6 million people currently live.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko has announced this.

According to her, the Cabinet of Ministers will soon adopt a decision on the allocation of additional subsidies to local budgets for communities under constant threat of russian shelling.

"Over 6 million Ukrainians live in 216 communities across ten frontline regions. Despite the difficult security situation, schools, hospitals, businesses, and public utilities continue to operate there," Svyrydenko noted.

Currently, the government is implementing a comprehensive package of 60 programs to support frontline territories. These cover education, healthcare, social protection, and support for the economic resilience of communities.

In the field of education, the government is funding the creation of safe infrastructure, including the construction of underground schools and kindergartens. Free hot meals are also provided to over 728,000 students.

In the healthcare sector, additional payments are provided to healthcare workers, continued funding for medical facilities, and targeted support for doctors working in frontline regions.

A separate area of support concerns internally displaced persons, socially vulnerable groups, and Ukrainian manufacturers under the state program “Made in Ukraine.”

In addition, the government is stepping up preparations for communities ahead of the fall and winter. This involves ensuring backup power sources, stable heat supply, and water supply as part of regional resilience plans.

The Cabinet of Ministers emphasizes that support for frontline communities remains one of the key priorities of state policy amid a full-scale war.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the head of the President’s Office, Kyrylo Budanov, announced the creation of an interagency working group to immediately draft a single comprehensive law on the special legal status and regulation of activities in frontline territories.
