Since the start of the full-scale invasion, experts from the National Police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit have responded to over 162,000 calls.

This was reported by the Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Ivan Vyhivskyi, on Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service Day.

"We have seized nearly 490,000 items of ammunition, about 26 tons of explosives, and surveyed over 53,000 hectares of territory. Behind these numbers are safe roads home, open schools, restored communities, and thousands of Ukrainian families who can live without fear," Vyhivskyi wrote on Facebook.

He emphasized that modern warfare is constantly changing, and with it, the threats evolve. Every day, bomb disposal experts work with new types of mines, improvised explosive devices, attack drones, and ammunition that the enemy uses against civilians. Their experience, knowledge, and professionalism are invaluable to Ukraine today.

"I am sincerely proud of every single person serving in the National Police’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal units. Your courage, cool head, composure, and dedication to the cause deserve the highest respect. Special words of gratitude to our colleagues who were wounded while performing their duties, yet remain with us in the ranks and continue to carry out their vital mission. And eternal memory to those bomb disposal experts who gave the most precious thing—their own lives—to save others. Their feat will forever remain in the history of the National Police of Ukraine and in the memory of a grateful people,” Vyhivskyi concluded.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in Odesa, NPU bomb disposal experts defused a russian "Shahed"-type attack drone that flew into an apartment in one of the apartment buildings but did not explode.
