Some russian airports begin to notify pilots of restrictions on aircraft refueling

Some airports in the aggressor country of russia have published notices to pilots (Notice to Airmen, NOTAN) with restrictions on aircraft refueling. This may indicate a decrease in the availability of aviation fuel in the country. The specialized Telegram channel "Aviation Entresol" reported this on Friday, June 11.

The corresponding NOTANs were published by airports in Krasnodar, Astrakhan, Nizhny Novgorod, Makhachkala, Mineralnye Vody and a number of other russian cities.

A similar message looks like this: DRG FLT PLANNING TO AD ASTRAKHAN CONSIDER LIMITATION ON REFUELING. AD PROVIDES ACFT REFUELING WITH QUANTITY ACCORDING TO FPL.

It means that Red Wings Airlines, which operates a flight to Astrakhan, must take into account the restrictions on refueling. The airport provides refueling of aircraft in the volumes provided for in the flight plan.

Or: FOREIGN ACFT FUELLING SUBJ TO COOR WITH FUELLING PROVIDER, FUEL SUPPLY WILL NOT EXCEED NECESSARY AMMOUNT. This means that refueling of foreign aircraft is carried out in agreement with the fuel supplier, but its volume will not exceed the required amount.

The channel explains that such restrictions do not affect flight safety in any way, since aircraft receive the amount of fuel necessary to complete the flight according to the flight plan.

"But this may be an indirect signal about the reduction in the availability of aviation fuel within the country," the channel writes.

Last week, the russian publication Kommersant wrote, citing sources, that at the end of May, airlines received notifications from fuel tankers about the impossibility of refueling aircraft under contracts at the airports of several russian cities, in particular St. Petersburg, Ufa and Yekaterinburg.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on May 18, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine's strikes in recent months have led to a reduction in oil refining in russia by about 10%.

This has forced russian oil companies to shut down about 400 wells. This is especially painful for Moscow, given the specifics of oil production in the country.

According to a report published yesterday, June 11, by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), oil production in russia has fallen to a seven-month low.
