On the night of June 11, russian troops attacked Konotop, striking a railway depot and a number of infrastructure facilities. As a result of the strike, a female employee of Ukrzaliznytsia, born in 1984, was killed, and four other railway workers were injured.
Ukrzaliznytsia Director Oleksandr Pertsovskyi has reported this.
According to him, the attack happened quickly, and some of the staff did not have time to take cover.
"We’ve suffered a heavy enemy strike on Konotop—specifically on the railway depot. The missiles were likely rocket-propelled, launched from near the border—and not everyone had time to take cover despite the warning. We are analyzing this in detail, second by second. A painful loss—one of our colleagues was killed during this strike. Four colleagues were injured; our people are with them at the hospital, and all necessary assistance is being provided," he wrote.
Mayor Artem Semenikhin clarified that hits on transportation and utility infrastructure were recorded across the city. The strikes caused damage that also affected other urban infrastructure facilities.
A railway employee who worked as a cleaner was killed during the attack. Four other employees sustained injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized.
Separately, disruptions in the operation of city systems have been reported. Following several strikes in Konotop, problems with electricity and water supply have been recorded, as well as damage to gas networks and residential buildings.
Currently, water supply is being provided according to schedule. Emergency repair work and damage cleanup are ongoing in the city.
