New Flamingo missile attacks plant producing antennas for Shaheds in Cheboksary - media

Main points
  • The head of the Chuvash Republic Oleg Nikolayev confirmed a missile attack on the city of Cheboksary.
  • The VNIIR-Progress plant, which produces specialized Comet antennas for russian weapons, was hit.
  • Digital Comet antennas ensure the resistance of russian weapons to Ukrainian electronic warfare.

In the russian city of Cheboksary, a thousand kilometers from the border with Ukraine, a fire broke out at the strategic enterprise VNIIR-Progress after a missile strike. In addition, other regions of the russian federation were also under large-scale attack that same night. This is reported by Exilenova+.

Information about the strike on Cheboksary was officially confirmed by the head of the Chuvash Republic Oleg Nikolayev. According to him, the city was subjected to a missile attack, and currently the relevant services are clarifying the number of victims and the amount of damage to the infrastructure. The videos published on the network recorded the flight of a missile over the city, which in its visual characteristics is similar to the new Ukrainian development of the FP-5 "Flamingo".

OSINT analysts and journalists from the russian independent project Astra identified the exact location of the impact. The VNIIR-Progress plant, which had previously been targeted by Ukrainian forces, was hit. This enterprise plays a critical role in the russian defense-industrial complex, as it produces specialized Comet antennas.

These digital antennas ensure the resistance of russian weapons to the action of Ukrainian electronic warfare. The occupiers are massively installing them on Shahed-type strike drones, Kalibr cruise missiles, Iskander-M ballistic complexes, as well as on UMPK modules that convert conventional Soviet high-explosive aerial bombs into guided gliding shells. The extent of damage at facilities in Cheboksary and Samara is currently being determined.
