Experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will soon visit the Chornobyl nuclear power plant following the attack by the aggressor country of russia on the nuclear facility, the organization said in a statement on Sunday, June 7.
The IAEA said the facility contained large amounts of nuclear material stored just a few meters from the attacked building, which is "deeply concerning." According to IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, attacks on nuclear facilities are completely unacceptable and directly contradict key principles of nuclear safety.
"The attack caused significant damage to the fuel reception building - in particular the facade, windows and doors - and surrounding buildings were also affected by the blast wave. The radiation level at the facility remains within established limits, Ukraine reports. The IAEA team at the Chornobyl site will soon visit the facility to inspect the impact," the report says.
