Due to adverse weather conditions, Ukraine's largest lavender field has died.

This is stated in a report by the Bessarabia INFORM publication, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The report states that the plant's roots could not withstand the frost, and the lavender bushes dried up.

The lavender field in the heart of Bessarabia was planted back in 2019 and was a favorite location for photography.

The project was called Lavender, and in April 2026 the organizers announced its renaming to Laviana estate.

The organizers noted on the updated page that they had to uproot a large number of lavender bushes and leave only 4 hectares of the field sown with the plant.

The organizers reported that they were no longer the largest lavender field in Ukraine and only 4 hectares of lavender remained, but on June 1, on the eve of the opening of the season, the organizers reported the death of the plants.

"We do not know whether the Laviana estate photo project will exist this year, but we are trying to do everything possible to reanimate the lavender field," the project page says.

It is noted that the coordinators called for support for the project by purchasing ecological craft products that were being prepared for the 2026 season.

The assortment includes essential oils, hydrolates, lavender honey, body care products and aromadecor.

The largest lavender field in Ukraine was located in the south of the Odesa Region, in the village of Vasylivka, Bolhrad district, and was known as Laviana Estate.

The location was one of the oldest and largest in the country.

At the peak of its development, the plantation had about 3,000 bushes, in total, 6 different varieties of lavender and lavandin were grown here.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in late April, weather forecaster Natalka Didenko warned that cold weather would persist in Ukraine at least until early May, with night frosts and low daytime temperatures.
