The US House of Representatives has approved a resolution that limits US President Donald Trump's war powers against Iran.

The document was another attempt by Congress to strengthen control over the President's decisions regarding the possible use of military force. CNN notes that the vote was a serious criticism of Trump's actions and his approach to resolving the conflict with Iran.
The resolution was initiated by Democrats, who in recent weeks have repeatedly tried to limit the president's war powers in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Over time, this initiative began to gain support among some Republicans.
The resolution was voted for by 215 congressmen, against by 208.
The decisive factor was that four Republicans supported the document along with Democrats.
At the same time, the adoption of the resolution does not mean that it automatically enters into force. The document must be approved by both houses of Congress, but does not provide for its transfer to the president for signature.
Thus, the decision of the House of Representatives primarily demonstrates the position of legislators on the role of Congress in the use of military force and US policy towards Iran.
