Russia, the aggressor nation, is preparing to launch new airstrikes against Ukraine. The targets are Ukrainian companies that are making progress in the development of missile technology.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement following a report by Oleh Ivashchenko, head of the Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS), on Tuesday, June 2.
Zelenskyy reported that Ivashchenko briefed him on details regarding russian missile production: facilities, ranges, quantities, supply routes for components, and individuals and companies from other countries that are helping russia circumvent sanctions.
According to him, Ukraine is preparing updated countermeasures—both Ukrainian ones and those coordinated with partners.
“We also know that Ukrainian companies demonstrating progress in the development of all types of missile technologies have been targeted as one of the key areas for further Russian strikes against Ukraine—military, political, and propaganda-related,” the head of state said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that russia views Ukraine’s ability to develop its own ballistic missile system as a strategic threat to itself.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, overnight on June 2, the aggressor country’s military launched a massive strike on Ukraine, deploying over 650 drones and 73 missiles of various types. Kyiv was the main target of the attack, while Kharkiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and a number of other regions were also struck.
Seven people were killed in Kyiv as a result of the russian attack. Another 90 people were injured, and 52 of them were hospitalized.
In Dnipro, 58 people were affected by the occupiers’ strikes, 16 of whom were killed.
