Today marks exactly one year since the Security Service's of Ukraine (SSU) operation Spiderweb, when Ukrainian drones struck russian strategic aviation on russian territory.

This was noted by the SSU, according to the Ukrainian News Agency.

"The world was amazed by the level of Ukrainian skill, and the occupiers understood: even the deep rear of the russian federation is no longer unreachable. This was not just a strike on the enemy, but a unique operation in its complexity, which has already entered the textbooks of modern military art. It was carried out on the instructions of the President of Ukraine, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Volodymyr Zelenskyy and under the direct leadership of Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk," the SSU reported.

The special operation Spiderweb was prepared for more than a year and a half - in conditions of complete secrecy and maximum conspiracy. Its goal was not only to inflict large-scale losses, but also to destroy the illusion of security that had been built in the russian federation for decades.

At a certain point, 117 FPV drones simultaneously attacked the enemy's strategic aviation at four russian military airfields: Belaya, Diaghilev, Olenya and Ivanovo. As a result of the operation, 41 aircraft were hit, including Tu-95, Tu-22M3, Tu-160 and A-50. The amount of damage caused exceeds USD 7 billion.

The fact that the SSU destroyed part of the russian "nuclear triad" gave special importance to Spiderweb. It was with it that the Kremlin intimidated and blackmailed the entire civilized world for years.

The SSU promises that it will continue to methodically destroy targets deep in the russian rear, paying for each crime.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the SSU operation Spiderweb, which was prepared for a year and a half, was initially planned to begin on May 9. But the start had to be postponed: some of the truck drivers transporting the hidden drones were drunk after a series of holidays - Easter, May 1, and Victory Day.

The preparation lasted for more than a year and a half. First, the SSU transported FPV drones to russia, and later - wooden mobile homes, under the roofs of which the drones were hidden. During the start of the operation, the roofs of these homes were remotely opened, after which the drones took off and struck russian airfields. Vasyl Maliuk said that after the SSU operation Spiderweb, the russians moved all long-range strategic aviation to the airbase in Ukrainka.
