US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that the United States is learning from Ukraine’s experience in using drone technology on the battlefield and is investing in this area.
He made these remarks during a press conference at the US Embassy in Singapore.
"We are continuing to learn from what Ukraine has done on the battlefield, it's not about having the exquisite systems, it's the ability to scale it, scale it quickly while adapting week after week," he explained.
The secretary noted that drone technology is developing rapidly, but the US aims to combine both approaches: to have state-of-the-art systems capable of performing tasks that, in terms of autonomy, only America can handle, but also to utilize the component that has been so effectively employed by both sides.
"We've learned so much from Ukraine, and how on how they operate," added the US Secretary of Defense.
Hegseth reported that US President Donald Trump’s 2027 budget includes USD 56 billion in investments to ensure dominance in the drone sector.
He noted that this is an absolute priority for the US moving forward, and the country intends not only to achieve parity but to become “the best in the world at it.”
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, it became known in April that the US Armed Forces had launched a large-scale transformation of their personnel training system, based on the realities of modern warfare in Ukraine. A key focus has been training soldiers to conduct aerial combat between drones.
