On the night of May 29, Volgograd was attacked by unknown drones. According to preliminary data, one of the key oil refineries in russia, Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka, was hit.
Social networks and Telegram channels began to publish videos with the roar of drones, explosions and a large fire. The footage shows thick smoke and a large-scale fire.
According to OSINT communities, the drones could have hit the Volgograd refinery. The enterprise is part of Lukoil and is considered one of the largest oil refining facilities in the russian federation.
The plant produces gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel and other oil products, some of which are used to provide the russian army and military logistics. Due to its strategic importance, the enterprise has been repeatedly called a potential target for drone strikes.
As a reminder, on the night of May 27, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Tuapse oil refinery (Tuapse, Krasnodar Krai). As a result of the attack, a fire and smoke were recorded on the territory of the enterprise.
