Russian propagandists are once again attempting to revive the old fake news story about "Ukrainian biological weapons of mass destruction." It was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).
According to the CCD, an official representative of the Investigative Committee of the aggressor state, the russian federation, claimed that the agency allegedly has information about “the development of biological weapons funded by the US and with the participation of the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.”
"No one has taken such statements seriously for a long time, yet the Russian propaganda machine continues to push the same talking points over and over again. The Investigative Committee representative claims that a 'criminal case' has been under investigation since 2022. A perfectly logical question arises: if, over the years of this “investigation,” Russian security forces have indeed found anything, why haven’t they released a single piece of real evidence to date? The answer is obvious—they have nothing to show the public,” the Center emphasized.
The Center also revealed that through this systematic campaign of lies, the aggressor state is attempting to justify the war against Ukraine.
"By regularly stoking the myth of 'biological weapons development,' Kremlin propaganda seeks to create the illusion of a threat from Ukraine in order to present armed aggression as a necessary 'preemptive strike,'" the Center concluded.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, according to the CCD, telecommunications operators in the aggressor state of russia were forced to spy on citizens.
