Russia, the aggressor nation, is preparing for an additional mobilization, for which it has stepped up the issuance of so-called mobilization orders. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Wednesday, May 27.
Zelenskyy noted that he held a meeting on defense, where Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov briefed him. According to him, Ukrainian troops are holding their positions on the front lines and actively defending themselves. There have also been successes in the application of long-range sanctions—in particular, against russian oil industry facilities located in Tuapse and other russian regions.
"We are also receiving an increasing amount of internal Russian information regarding preparations for additional mobilization in the aggressor country. First and foremost, this is intended to compensate for the particularly high losses suffered by the Russian army in the occupied territory of Ukraine. Russia’s political leadership has set the task of increasing the occupation contingent. We are talking about at least tens of thousands of additional troops. We also have data regarding a further increase in mobilization—it is precisely for this purpose that the Russian authorities have stepped up the issuance of so-called mobilization orders," the head of state said.
Such steps by the aggressor confirm that moscow is not preparing for genuine diplomacy, Zelenskyy emphasized.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on May 25, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced an improvement in Ukraine’s positions on the front lines.
