From a military standpoint, the situation for Ukraine now looks much better than at any time since the start of russia’s full-scale invasion. Finnish President Alexander Stubb has stated this in comments to Yle.
Assessing the course of hostilities, the Finnish leader noted that the nature of war has changed significantly in recent years. According to him, while the first year of the conflict was a struggle for survival for Ukraine, and the following three years were a period of resilience, the situation has now shifted to a matter of pure mathematics.
Alexander Stubb revealed the actual ratio of casualties on the battlefield. According to the Finnish president, for every Ukrainian soldier killed, there are now eight russian occupiers killed.
The Finnish leader emphasized that this dynamic, along with other factors, gives the Ukrainian Armed Forces a strategic advantage. In particular, Stubb noted that within the russian federation itself, support for and popularity of the war of aggression against Ukraine are rapidly declining.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Stubb expressed his readiness to serve as an EU mediator in negotiations with russia.
