The Security Service of Ukraine, in coordination with units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, detained a russian female agent in the Donetsk Region and neutralized a militant from the aggressor state, the russian federation, whom she had been harboring in her home. It was reported in a statement by the SSU.

The investigation revealed that a russian soldier with the call sign “Shaman” infiltrated the territory of Lyman to conduct reconnaissance of the Defense Forces’ positions in the frontline community. There, he established contact with a local unemployed woman, who subsequently hid him in her home.

The russian then enlisted the woman to direct enemy fire at Ukrainian troops in and around Lyman. To do this, the suspect would walk around the area under the guise of taking walks and scout out the Defense Forces’ bases. She then relayed the geolocations of potential “targets” to the russian militant, who reported the coordinates for shelling to his command via radio.

According to the case file, “Shaman” served in the 31st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the 67th Motorized Rifle Division of the 25th Combined Arms Army of the aggressor country’s Central Military District.

"SSU officers documented the reconnaissance activities of the enemy 'pair' in advance and took measures to secure the positions of the defenders of Lyman. During a special operation to expose the enemy cell, the Russian militant offered armed resistance, as a result of which he was neutralized by Ukrainian soldiers," the Security Service reported.

Security Service investigators informed the detainee that she is suspected of treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The suspect is currently in custody. She faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, the Security Service dismantled another scheme to evade mobilization in the Kyiv Region. Following comprehensive operations in the capital region, a criminal group was neutralized that, for money, booked draft dodgers or illegally smuggled them out of Ukraine.
