During the large-scale night shelling of the capital on the night of May 24, the State Historical and Architectural Reserve "Ancient Kyiv" came under attack by russian troops. As a result of the attack, the historical heart of the capital suffered significant damage. The administration of the reserve reported this on its official Facebook page.
The National Chornobyl Museum, which had only opened to visitors a few days earlier after extensive renovations, was the hardest hit. The museum building is now almost completely destroyed.

"The National Museum "Chornobyl", about the opening of which after the renovation we wrote a few days ago, has been almost destroyed. Numerous architectural monuments, in particular the Kontraktovyi Dim, were damaged," the official statement of the reserve says.
In addition to the museum building, the blast wave and debris damaged a number of unique architectural monuments of Podil, including the famous Kontraktovyi Dim.

The scale of the losses of museum funds and the destruction of historical heritage is currently being established by experts. Emergency services and specialized commissions are working at the site of the hits, recording the consequences of another act of cultural vandalism by the russian federation.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the main office of Ukrposhta on Maidan Nezalezhnosti was damaged during the night attack on Kyiv.
On the night of May 24, russian forces launched a massive ballistic missile attack on the Ukrainian capital.
The massive strike on Kyiv killed one person, injured more than 20, and caused significant damage in 8 districts.
