On the night of May 24, during the massive shelling of the capital, the above-ground building of the Lukyanivska metro station was destroyed. At the time of the explosions, the underground platform of the station functioned as a shelter, where hundreds of civilians from Kyiv were hiding from enemy attacks. This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration.

It is reported that the blast wave damaged the glazing and structure of the above-ground lobby of the station, which is located in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the city. Fortunately, the underground part of the metro, where people were, remained intact, so the citizens in the shelter were not injured.

Currently, relevant city services are working at the scene, assessing the extent of damage and eliminating the consequences of the air strike. Changes in the train schedule and the features of the station's entry and exit will be announced later.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on the night of May 24, russian troops launched a massive ballistic missile attack on the Ukrainian capital.
